When Catherine stumbled into Kimbilio Hospice, she was in excruciating pain. Massive wounds filled her chest wall. She explained that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer several years prior but had never had access to treatment or pain control of any kind. The result of her disease was not only disfiguring her physically; but emotionally, she felt isolated and alone. Within a day of coming to Kimbilio, Catherine’s pain was well controlled and her wounds were clean and no longer smelling. With tears streaming down her face, Catherine repeatedly said: “Kongoi, kongoi mi sing.” It simply means: thank you, thank you very much.
