Kimbilio Hospice Run
I am excited to share that Risper Kimaiyo, ambassador for Living Room’s Kimbilio Hospice, has won Sunday’s Long Beach Marathon with an official time of 2:41:56. Her determination, humility and unbelievable speed have been a great source of inspiration and support for Living Room.
For months we have been planning and praying for the Kimbilio Hospice Run/Team Living Room. Last Saturday, October 4th, we woke up to beautiful weather and were filled with gratitude as 159 athletes arrived in the village of Kipkaren to participate in cross-country races. It is nothing less than spectacular to watch Kenyans run.
The Governor as well as many other government officials, the media, and sponsors came to show their support. Several thousand people from our community also came to cheer for the runners and to receive screening for various types of cancer. 136 men and women received screening in the newly completed outpatient clinic.
We have equally been encouraged by the 71 Americans who, over the past few weeks, have joined us in local events to raise awareness and funds for Living Room.
There is so much work left to be done for Living Room to help reduce the pain and suffering of adults and children living with life-threatening illnesses. We are grateful for all of the prayers and support we have received which enable us to continue loving our patients.
Attached are some inspiring photos from the Kimbilio Hospice Run and Team Living Room events.
