50 Reasons to Run, Day 45: Ann
Ann Rono Chebet
1965 – 2012
Recurring Guest at Living Room from July 29, 2011 – May 2, 2012
Ann Rono was a mother, a daughter, a neighbor and a friend. Like too many others in this community, her life was cut short because of HIV/AIDS. Ann was physically weak and emotionally battered when she arrived at the Living Room. Her immune system was gone, and tuberculosis was ravaging her lungs. For nearly two months, we cared for Ann, and amazingly, she grew stronger, more resilient to the infections in her body and was able to return home.
Seven months later, Ann returned to Kimbilio, where she would leave the brokenness of her body and this world. We feel grateful Ann was able to spend her final days at Kimbilio Hospice in the loving care of the Living Room team. It was our privilege to care for her in ways that would allow her to know that she was not alone, that she was loved deeply by God.
Ann is worth running for
